They should sit just under your kneecap and finish above your ankle bone. You want a snug hold that doesn’t pinch, and no twisting when you throw a kick or check. If your toes tingle or the straps are maxed out, go up a size.
For bag work and light pad rounds, shin-only is fine. If you’re doing partner work or your club requires it, choose shin-and-foot to protect your toes and your partner’s forearms.
